Princess Cruises has unveiled two exciting new specialty dining venues aboard Diamond Princess, further enhancing the ship’s culinary offering ahead of its 2026 Japan season. Guests can now enjoy the refined Japanese flavours of Makoto Ocean alongside the classic elegance of the much-loved Crown Grill, with reservations now open for all sailings.
Makoto Ocean: Contemporary Japanese Dining at Sea
Debuting on Diamond Princess after its successful introduction on Sun Princess and Star Princess, Makoto Ocean brings the artistry of renowned chef Makoto Okuwa to the fleet. Located on Deck 7, the restaurant showcases Edomae-style sushi and contemporary Japanese cuisine, crafted with precision and premium ingredients.
Signature dishes include truffle salmon, snow crab temaki and toro tartare, complemented by an inventive drinks menu inspired by Japanese flavours. Handcrafted cocktails such as the Genmai Negroni and Kodai No Hana – blending yuzu juice with traditional Doburoku sake – complete the experience. The venue reflects Princess Cruises’ ongoing commitment to globally inspired, elevated dining at sea.
Crown Grill: A Princess Cruises Favourite Returns
Also making its debut aboard Diamond Princess is Crown Grill, the cruise line’s award-winning steakhouse, now located in the former Savoy Dining Room on Deck 5. Long regarded as a guest favourite across the fleet, Crown Grill is celebrated for its premium aged beef, fresh seafood and attentive service, all delivered in an elegant yet welcoming setting.
The restaurant has consistently been recognised among the Best Cruise Ship Steakhouses at Sea, making it a welcome addition for guests seeking a refined dining experience.
Dining Packages and Pricing – How much does Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill cost on Diamond Princess?
Both Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill are priced at $55 per person and are included for guests who purchase the Princess Premier package, offering exceptional value for those looking to indulge in specialty dining during their voyage.
Enhancing the Asia and Japan Cruise Experience
“With Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill now onboard Diamond Princess, and also recently added onboard sister ship Sapphire Princess, we’re proud to enhance the guest experience as Diamond Princess sails across Asia and as we look ahead to our dual-ship Japan season in 2027,”
