Green & Co and Mizuhana are two of the newest speciality dining venues on P&O Cruises’ Arvia, offering plant-based dishes and freshly prepared sushi in a stylish, relaxed setting. Located on Deck 8 aft, starboard side, between The Keel and The Clubhouse, both restaurants are open daily from 12.00 pm to 9.30 pm.

Neither Green & Co nor Mizuhana is included in the standard cruise fare, with all dishes priced individually. However, prices are reasonable for speciality dining, making this one of Arvia’s best-value food experiences. In this post be going through everything available on both menus but first let’s take a look around the restaurant.

Green & Co and Mizuhana are among P&O Arvia’s best-kept dining secrets.

Restaurant Location and Atmosphere

Green & Co occupies the same area as The Olive Grove on Iona, though Arvia’s Olive Grove is located separately on Deck 6. The décor at Green & Co is tropical, organic and contemporary, with a warm, natural feel. Mizuhana sits within a section of Green & Co, with seating arranged around a central island so guests can watch the sushi chefs prepare dishes live.

Green & Co Menu Overview

The Green & Co menu focuses on modern plant-based cuisine it’s original menu at launch was divided into:

🥬Small plates (£3–£3.50)
🥬Sharers (£6–£7)
🥬Large plates (£5.50–£6.50)
🥬Desserts (£3.50–£5)

Since the menu update there is also a 3-course meal for £10. The Green & Co original menu has also been condensed a little so some of the items here may not be on the new menu which is a shame.

Standout Small Plates at Green & Co on Arvia

Let me bring the menu to life and show you some of the items we chose in Green & Co. First up was the kombucha-infused beetroot. This was a light dish with lots of lovely flavours. If you’re used to pickled, vinegary beetroot from jars in the UK, this was nothing like that.

Next, we tried the Caesar arancini. We really enjoyed this starter; the Caesar dressing was full of flavour and the arancini balls were light and crispy. We also tried the mushroom sherry pâté. If you’ve had mushroom pâté before, it wasn’t very different in terms of flavour or texture, but it was very tasty and the sherry wasn’t overpowering.

Another favourite was the sesame-crusted crispy fried tofu. This was one of our standout starters. The sticky Korean sauce and kimchi-spiced aioli were delicious and full of flavour. We also tried the roasted sweet pimento tartare. Visually, it didn’t appeal to me at first, and the flavours were quite sharp, with pickles and capers. If you enjoy vinegary flavours, you might like it, but I probably wouldn’t order it again.

The cauliflower popcorn tempura was one of our favourite small plates. The coriander and mint yoghurt really lifted the dish, and the tempura was light and crispy. I’d definitely recommend ordering this. We also tried the Nepalese tofu momos. The dumplings were tasty, and the broth they came in was absolutely delicious – I could have ordered a bowl of it on its own. This is definitely something I’ll order again.

Finally, we tried the sweet potato pakoras. They were nicely spiced without being overpowering, and the crispy kale was a perfect accompaniment. The pea and mint crush and coriander yoghurt really lifted the dish, and I’d give this a solid 10 out of 10.

Large Plates

Moving on to the larger plates, we didn’t try any of the sharing dishes and went straight to the mains. First up was the Chakalaka Wellington. If you’re new to vegan food or unsure what to try, this is a great option. Chakalaka is a South African vegetable relish made with tomatoes and beans. It can be spicy, but this version wasn’t overly so. The texture was quite meaty, and the vegan pastry was light and crisp. The portion size was generous and very filling, and we’d definitely order it again.

Next were the crispy garlic and cumin cauliflower florets. These were very tasty and nicely presented, but I was a little disappointed by the portion size for £5.50, as it felt more like a starter. While enjoyable, I probably wouldn’t order it again at that price.

Desserts at Green & Co

Now on to the desserts. First was the coconut kefir panna cotta. There were lots of different flavours and textures, and the fresh fruit really lifted the dish. One interesting feature was the glassware – each glass bowl and wooden base is uniquely matched, created by dropping molten glass onto the base. We were told there are 80 of these on board, each individually numbered so they can be paired correctly.

We also tried the espresso crème caramel. This was one of the cheaper desserts and slightly smaller in portion. While it was tasty, it wasn’t my favourite, and the crème caramel wasn’t particularly creamy. I wouldn’t order it again.

The chocolate “earth plate” was a real feast for the senses, with beautiful presentation and lots of textures and colours. Although it looks like a forest floor, I can assure you it’s not moss. All the flavours were delicious, from the rich chocolate to the fizzy sweets. We ordered this on both visits and I’d definitely recommend it.

Finally, we tried the spiced pear pavlova. I enjoyed it, but probably wouldn’t order it again. It was very light and subtle, and while the blackcurrant gel helped lift the flavours, it would otherwise have tasted quite bland.

We also tried several of the vegan cocktails in Green & Co. Unfortunately, the juniper and plum cocktail wasn’t available on the maiden voyage. The hibiscus and coconut cocktail was delicious — so much so that I ordered it multiple times. If you enjoy sweet, fruity but zesty drinks, this one’s perfect. The sakura and lavender cocktail had subtle flavours, with lychee and lemon working really well together. The strawberry and lemongrass cocktail was also refreshing and enjoyable.

It’s worth noting that these cocktails aren’t included in the drinks package. There are two non-alcoholic options – the lavender and lychee highball and the lemongrass and strawberry lemonade. The restaurant also offers beers, soft drinks, sake, and a selection of wines, some of which are included in the drinks package.

Mizuhana Sushi Experience

Mizuhana is a lively and sociable dining space, where you can watch the sushi masters prepare dishes right in front of you. If you’ve never tried sushi before, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go at least once. The staff are very helpful and supportive, especially if it’s your first time.

The sushi menu includes nigiri, sashimi, uramaki, and maki, with prices varying depending on the selection. If you can’t decide, there are platters available, including a moriawase platter and a maki platter. Traditional options such as Highland salmon nigiri were beautifully presented and melt-in-the-mouth.

Flora Sushi

Vegan diners are well catered for, with the Flora Sushi option offering a balanced introduction to sushi with a mix of subtle and bolder flavours.

In a recent update to the menu, a wider range of meat-based dishes was included on the Mizuhana – perhaps to appeal to a wider audience, as it seem since it’s launch in 2022, this has never been a busy speciality restaurant. This is a shame because think it’s one of the most underrated places to eat on board – even if you are not vegan.

Is Green & Co and Mizuhana Worth Visiting on Arvia?

Personally, I think Green & Co and Mizuhana are among P&O Arvia’s best-kept dining secrets. While the vegan and sushi focus may put some guests off initially, the quality, pricing and variety make it well worth a visit. There’s so much delicious food to choose from, all at very reasonable prices. Whether you’re plant-based, sushi-curious, or simply looking for something different from the main dining rooms, this is a restaurant worth trying at least once during your cruise.
