If you have an upcoming cruise with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, understanding the onboard drink prices can help you budget more confidently and decide whether a drinks package is worthwhile. In my opinion, Fred. Olsen’s bar prices are quite good-value compared with larger mainstream cruise lines. For example even signature cocktails are under £8 each. This post covers all the drinks on board including wines, beers, spirits, soft drinks and teas, based on current onboard menus. Prices correct as at January 2026.
Some of the great value cocktails on board Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines – ranging between £5 – £7.95
What’s included in the Fred. Olsen Drinks Package?
The cost of the Fred. Olsen Premium Drinks Package varies depending on the duration of your cruise and whether you book on board or in advance (booking on board is about 10% more expensive):

Cost per person night Booked in Bdvance/ Booked on Board

6 – 27 nights
£40 / £44
28 – 69 nights
£36 / £40

The drinks package includes all cocktails and mocktails, a selection of red, white and rosé wines by the glass, sparkling wine by the glass, beers, lagers, ales and ciders, as well as soft drinks (excluding Red Bull). Also included is spirits with mixers, liqueurs, speciality spirits, whisky and brandy (excluding premium brands), sherry, vermouth, Madeira and port, along with alcohol-free spirits and wines by the glass.

The only drinks which are not included in the package or do not receive any discounts are 750ml glass bottles of mineral water, Red Bull, speciality coffees, and drinks from the Bookmark Café and Oriental Tea Room.

Unlike other cruise line drinks packages, there is no set limit on the number of drinks per day. Fred. Olsen operates a Responsible Service of Alcohol policy but treats guests as adults. The cruise line also doesn’t allow you to take your own alcohol on board.
Is the Fred Olsen Drinks Package worth it?
It all depends on your preferred tipple and drinking style, plus how long your cruise is and how much of your time will be spent away from the ship. For the majority of cruises (between 7 and 14 nights) the package works out at £40 per person per night in booked in advance (saving around 10% when compared to booking on board). For example if you enjoy cocktails, the package is likely to work well for you if you think your will drink on average 6 cocktails per day.
Another thing to consider is which drinks are already included (so that you don’t end up overpaying for the package). If you have booked the Freedom Fare, selected house beer (by the glass), selected red, white and rosé wine (by the glass), – including non alcoholic options – and draught soft drinks are included with lunch and dinner. These are available with waiter service only in the main, buffet and speciality restaurants.
Also included in your fare are self serve teas and coffees from the buffets as well as juices (at breakfast), and tea and filter coffee in the restaurants . Tap water is completely free at all times from all the bars and restaurants and there are also tea and coffee making facilities in your cabin.
Everyone in your cabin needs to purchase the package. So if only one of you drinks then getting a package for two might be a costly option. You are better off paying as you go. The same works for any children in your cabin as there are no dedicated children’s packages.
There isn’t a dedicated non-alcoholic package available but there is a selection of soft drinks are included in the premium drinks package. However, if you are booked on a freedom fare, you will get unlimited draught soft drinks, juices and filtered water with lunch and dinner so it might be worth paying as you go instead.
Here’s how it could work out if this represents a typical day on board for you.
