If you’re flying from Birmingham International Airport (BHX) to meet your cruise ship, the Clubrooms Lounge offers a touch of luxury to make your travel experience more comfortable and stress-free. Premium airport lounges in Birmingham, Clubrooms Birmingham Airport opening hours

I booked this lounge before a recent flight with Eurowings out of Birmingham International to join a river cruise from Cologne. In this guide, I’ll take you through explore the amenities within the lounge, things to consider before you book, and how the Clubrooms compare to the other airport lounges at Birmingham International Airport.

What Are the Clubrooms at Birmingham International Airport?

The Clubrooms is a premium airport lounge operated by No1 Lounges, designed to provide a first-class experience for travellers. Unlike the other two lounges in Birmingham International (which I’ve also previously tried), The Clubrooms offers a more exclusive environment.

This makes it a popular choice for business travellers but can be a wonderful option if you want a more tranquil and sophisticated environment before you fly out to meet your cruise ship away from the crowded terminals and sometimes busier airport lounges.

Where is The Clubrooms Lounge Located in Birmingham Airport?

Once you’ve cleared security, follow the signs for premium lounges. It’s situated near the main shopping and dining areas, making it easy to find while providing quick access to your departure gate when it’s time to board.

You’ll find The Clubrooms Lounge tucked away in the new wing of Birmingham Airport near gate 54. Depending on which gate your flight is departing from, this may or may not be the most convenient option for you – so make a note of where your flight is likely to depart from or leave yourself plenty time to get to your gate.

Amenities Available at the Clubrooms

Here are the key amenities you can enjoy at the Clubrooms at Birmingham International Airport:

Personalised Table Service: Unlike the buffet-style dining in the other lounges in the airport, the Clubrooms provide a la carte table service. I was able to choose from a selection of freshly prepared meals alongside a curated selection of beverages, which also included premium alcoholic drinks.

Comfortable Seating Areas: There were plenty of stylish seating options available from smaller, secluded tables (where I managed to catch up on some last-minute work before my flight) to more relaxed seating with fabulous airside views to read a book or magazine before your flight.

Quiet Environment: The lounge is designed to minimise noise, creating a calm atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding before your flight, or if you need to concentrate on some work. What I was also impressed with is that the seating is well-spaced out, so you don’t feel you are constantly eavesdropping on others’ conversations.

Complimentary Wi-Fi: Stay connected with high-speed internet, ideal for last-minute emails or streaming entertainment. The complimentary Wi-Fi was fast and reliable – this was perfect for me to catch up on some work and emails before my flight.

A la Carte Dining: the menu at Clubrooms is updated seasonally and features made-to-order hot and cold dishes, light bites, nibbles and sweet treats. The menu also caters to various dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. If you have dietary preferences or restrictions, it’s a good idea to check the lounge menu in advance.

Power Outlets: Ample charging points are available in the lounge, and I was not too far away from a few outlets at my table. This was great for ensuring all my devices were fully charged before my flight.

Access to Magazines and Newspapers: There was a good selection of reading materials including some coffee table style books.

Facilities: The toilets within the lounge were small, but were clean and well maintained.

Things to Consider Before Booking the Clubrooms

My visit to the Clubrooms was overall a positive experience and I fully enjoyed the perks on offer in this lounge before my flight, however there are some aspects to think about before booking:

Pricing: The Clubrooms is one of the more expensive lounge options at Birmingham International Airport. Prices start at approximately £40-50 per person. You might be able to get complimentary or discounted access with your credit card provider which might offset this cost. The lounge also accepts Lounge Key, Dragon Pass and Priority Pass.

Pre-Booking: I highly recommended you book this lounge in advance; despite its price tag, the lounge has limited capacity so is often fully booked during peak travel times.

Group Bookings: If you are travelling as a group Clubrooms lounge, accept bookings on their website for a maximum of 8 people. If the group is of 9 or more, then you must contact our Guest Relations team to enquire about availability. Clubrooms do not permit access to stag and hen parties.

Time Limits: Most bookings allow for a stay of up to three hours. However, if your flight is delayed, you may need to negotiate an extension, depending on availability. The lounge was pretty quiet when I travelled (October) and friendly staff were happy to accommodate a reasonable extension. However, this might not be the case at busier or peak times.

Dress Code: A smart-casual dress code applies. Clubrooms reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone wearing clothing which they deem to be unsuitable. This includes themed or fancy-dress outfits, clothes with slogans that may cause offence, sports shirts, beach flip flops, vests, and clothing that exposes midriffs or upper thighs.

Less Family-Friendly: while children are allowed, they need to be 12+ years to access this lounge. If you are travelling with a younger family, one of the other loungers may be a better option. However, if you are travelling Premium with Air France, KLM, Air India, Qatar or Saudia children flying with eligible airline guests can be accommodated in Clubrooms.

Comparison with Other Birmingham International Airport Lounges

If you like exclusivity, personalised service, and premium amenities, then The Clubrooms premium airport lounge is likely to be a great option. However, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option or traveling with children, the No1 Lounge or the Aspire Lounge might be more suitable.

Relaxation and Productivity: Whether you want to unwind or work, the tranquil environment caters to both.

For travellers seeking a premium experience and willing to pay for it, the Clubrooms is an excellent choice. It’s ideal for business travellers, couples, or anyone celebrating a special occasion. However, if you’re traveling on a tighter budget or just need a quiet space to relax, the No1 Lounge or Aspire Lounges (Aspire Lounge and Aspire Lounge South) may meet your needs at a lower cost.

I paid £42 to access the Clubrooms. Eurowings (who I was flying with) counters open 2 hours before departure. By the time I cleared security, I only had about 90 mins in the lounge before boarding my flight (which conveniently was for Gate 54). If you are on a long-haul flight, or have a longer layover, or are travelling with carry on only then you’ll be able to take full advantage of the maximum 3-hour timeslot available.

While it was pretty pricey for the limited time I had access to the lounge, I feel it was still enough time for me to off-set the cost; I was served a delicious hot a meal, manged to polish off a few glasses of nice wine, recharged all my devices, downloaded all my emails before the flight using the free-Wi-Fi and grabbed a snack and refilled my water bottle for the flight. All in relaxed and stress-free surroundings.

I think that the Clubrooms at Birmingham International Airport offers a luxurious and serene start to a flight. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive and the peaceful atmosphere and perks I was able to take advantage of even in 90 minutes made it a worthwhile expense.
