Oceania Cruises has lifted the curtain on the maiden season of Oceania Sonata™, offering an enticing preview of what promises to be one of the most exciting new ships to enter the luxury market. Launching in August 2027, Oceania Sonata is the first vessel in the all-new Sonata Class and represents a significant step forward for the line’s signature blend of destination-focused itineraries and exceptional cuisine.

Voyages are now available to preview online, with bookings opening on 28 January 2026. The inaugural season features 22 sailings between August 2027 and April 2028, covering more than 90 destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central and South America, with itineraries ranging from seven to 16 days.

A Maiden Voyage Made for Explorers

Oceania Sonata will make her debut on 7 August 2027, sailing from Rome (Civitavecchia) to Trieste on a 14-day Mediterranean journey that perfectly captures the line’s love of rich, immersive travel. Guests can look forward to a wonderful mix of well-loved ports and intriguing discoveries, including Catania, Valletta, Katakolon, Bar, and Zadar.

Throughout the European season, the ship will visit iconic cities such as Barcelona, Athens, and Lisbon, alongside lesser-known gems including Paros, Koper, Sarandë, and Palamós. With a generous number of overnight stays, there is ample opportunity to experience destinations after dark in places like Istanbul, Livorno, and Bordeaux – ideal for late dinners, and evening strolls.

Sun, Sea and a Panama Canal Highlight

After completing her Mediterranean programme, Oceania Sonata will cross the Atlantic to Miami, kicking off a tropical season that will appeal to both seasoned cruisers and first-time guests. The itineraries blend classic Caribbean favourites such as Bridgetown and Tortola with more off-the-beaten-path ports in Latin America, including Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa in Mexico and Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala.

One of the standout experiences of the season is a daylight transit of the Panama Canal, giving guests the chance to witness this bucket-list passage from the comfort of the ship.

A Fresh Take on Life On Board

Carrying 1,390 guests, with 855 crew on board, Oceania Sonata has been designed to feel spacious, relaxed and effortlessly elegant. As always with Oceania Cruises, food is at the heart of the experience. Guests will enjoy 13 dining venues at no extra charge, supported by an extraordinary culinary team that includes one chef for every eight guests.

New dining concepts debuting on board include La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, set to become the most exclusive fine-dining restaurant at sea, and Nikkei Kitchen, an exciting evening venue combining Peruvian flavours with refined Japanese techniques in a light, contemporary space.

Beyond the restaurants, Oceania Sonata introduces a wider range of social and enrichment spaces. Highlights include the new Opus Lounge, expanded café and Crêperie areas, and enhanced learning venues such as upgraded culinary centres and the LYNC Digital Centre – perfect for guests who enjoy combining leisure with discovery.
