This course has now been discontinued.

I firmly believe you should never stop learning. After 20 years of cruising, I know a fair amount about cruise holidays, yet there is always more to discover. So when Emma Cruises launched How to Cruise for Less through her Cruising Isn’t Just for Old People University, I was immediately interested.

Who Is Emma and What Is the Course About?

Emma is a UK-based cruise blogger and YouTuber who has been cruising since childhood. She is known for finding excellent-value sailings, often cruising for as little as $50 per night.

How to Cruise for Less is a practical, money-saving course packed with videos, downloadable cheat sheets, flowcharts, tools and detailed guidance. It covers ways to save at every stage of the cruise process, from choosing a line to managing onboard spending.

Who Is It Best For?

First-Time Cruisers

If you are new to cruising, the volume of information online can feel overwhelming. This course gathers everything into one clear, well-organised place. Emma has distilled years of experience into practical, easy-to-follow guidance. For beginners without a seasoned cruiser to guide them, this is an excellent starting point.

Experienced Cruisers

Even after more than ten cruises, I still found valuable insights. Regular cruisers tend to fall into habits: preferred lines, favourite cabin types, familiar routines. While comfortable, those habits can quietly cost money. The course acts as a useful audit of your cruise behaviour, helping you spot where savings could be made, whether you sail in an inside cabin or a suite.

It is particularly helpful if you have been loyal to one cruise line and are considering trying another. One standout feature is Emma’s cruise line flowchart, which helps you identify comparable alternatives based on your preferences. It is clear, visual and extremely easy to use.

What Is the Learning Experience Like?

Unlike many structured training programmes, this course is not rigid. You do not need to complete modules in order or pass tests to unlock content. Everything is available immediately.

If you want to jump straight to the list of 50 money-saving tips, you can.

If you prefer to watch the 16 videos in sequence, you can easily do so in an evening. The platform is simple and works equally well on desktop or mobile.  The content is detailed but never overwhelming. It is evident that a great deal of research has gone into both the material and its presentation.
