Launched in 2023 and carrying just 744 guests, Regent Seven Seas Grandeur is designed to deliver one of the most spacious and exclusive cruise experiences at sea. I stepped aboard for the day as part of a hosted ship visit to see whether it truly lives up to the claim of being The Most Luxurious Ship at Sea.

From the moment I boarded, the sense of space was unmistakable. At 223 metres long with 540 crew serving just 744 guests, Grandeur feels intentionally uncrowded. I noticed room to pause in the lounges, generous spacing between tables in the restaurants, and a calm atmosphere around the pool. Even before exploring properly, the difference was clear.

As I stepped into the soaring atrium spanning decks four and five, it felt like the natural starting point for any visit. The sweeping staircase, dramatic chandelier and curated artwork immediately set the tone. The design is not simply about grandeur for its own sake. It feels purposeful and refined. During my time on board, these were the areas that stood out most.

Bars and Lounges on Regent Seven Seas Grandeur

If memorable cruise moments often begin in the bars and lounges, Grandeur certainly understands that. Each space feels distinct yet cohesive.

Grandeur Lounge (Deck 4)
Located near Compass Rose, this elegant lounge makes an ideal pre-dinner gathering spot. Soft lighting and refined furnishings create an intimate atmosphere. During sailings, guests enjoy live music here, from gentle jazz to more upbeat performances, always polished and never overpowering.

Coffee Connection (Deck 5)
Far more than a simple café, this is the sort of place many guests naturally gravitate towards each morning. Fresh espresso, delicate pastries and uninterrupted ocean views create a calm start to the day.

Meridian Lounge (Deck 5)
Positioned close to the Constellation Theatre, this lounge comes into its own after evening performances. Comfortable armchairs and a generous bar make it equally appealing during the daytime

Connoisseur Club (Deck 11)
This leather-lined retreat is dedicated to fine cigars, cognac and single malt whisky. It has the ambience of a traditional gentleman’s club with a contemporary finish.

Observation Lounge (Deck 11)
By day, I found this to be one of the best vantage points on the ship, thanks to its panoramic sea views. In the evening, it transforms into a live music venue, offering an intimate setting for piano performances or small bands.

Pool Bar (Deck 11)
The Pool Bar anchors the outdoor space. I could easily picture sunny sea days here, cocktail in hand, with the atmosphere relaxed yet refined.

Dining on Regent Seven Seas Grandeur

Dining is one of Grandeur’s defining features, and even during a short visit, the attention to detail was evident.

Compass Rose
The largest restaurant on board is visually striking. An illuminated forest of sculptural columns greets guests at the entrance. What sets Compass Rose apart is its customisation concept. Guests can select their preferred main ingredient, then choose sauces and accompaniments to create a personalised dish.

Pacific Rim
From the bronze cherry blossom bonsai at the entrance to the lotus-inspired windows, Pacific Rim feels immersive without being theatrical. The Pan-Asian menu showcases sushi, Korean barbecue and delicately balanced flavours presented with precision.

Chartreuse
This venue brings modern French cuisine to sea. A chartreuse glass installation casts a warm glow across the dining room, while expansive windows frame the ocean beyond.

Prime 7
Regent’s signature steakhouse offers aged cuts of beef, indulgent sides and elevated classics. The atmosphere is intimate and reassuringly traditional.

The Study
An exclusive 12-guest private dining space nestled between Prime 7 and Chartreuse. During my visit, it felt like stepping into a private dinner party setting, where presentation and storytelling are as important as flavour.

La Veranda and Sette Mari
By day, La Veranda offers breakfast and international lunch stations. In the evening, the space becomes Sette Mari, serving Italian cuisine in a more intimate setting.

Pool Grill
Casual dining is available outdoors, with burgers, seafood and lighter options served alongside panoramic views.

Entertainment and Enrichment

Constellation Theatre
Spanning decks four and five, this two-deck-high theatre delivers large-scale productions and concerts. I was particularly impressed by how thoughtfully the sightlines have been designed.

Casino
Compact yet sophisticated, the casino provides a classic cruise experience without dominating the space.

Culinary Arts Kitchen
This hands-on cooking school allows guests to learn techniques inspired by destinations on the itinerary, guided by professional chefs. It is one of the enrichment spaces that genuinely adds depth to the overall experience.

Library and Card Room
Up on deck 11, I found a well-stocked library and a bright card room with sea views. Both spaces have a relaxed, club-like atmosphere.

Wellness and Activities

Grandeur balances indulgence with opportunities to stay active.

Main Pool (Deck 11)
The turquoise pool is surrounded by neatly arranged loungers and attentive service. During my time on board, it felt more like an elegant resort terrace than a traditional cruise deck.

Sports Deck (Deck 12)
Golf nets, a jogging track, paddle tennis, shuffleboard and a putting green wrap around the aft, offering a surprising amount of open-air space.

Fitness Centre (Deck 6)
Equipped with Technogym machines, spinning bikes and space for classes such as yoga and Pilates.

Serene Spa and Wellness
The spa offers globally inspired treatments and restorative therapies tailored specifically for Regent guests.

Art and Design: What Makes Grandeur Unique

The art collection is one of the ship’s most remarkable features. Multi-million-pound pieces are displayed throughout, including several Picassos. Guests can explore the collection independently using a digital art tour available via the Regent mobile app.

A few highlights drew particular attention during my visit – Journey in Jewels, the only Fabergé egg permanently displayed at sea, The Enchanted Tree, a 40-foot tapestry woven with intricate textiles and The original Picasso sketch in the Regent Suite

In a Class of its Own

Even during a single day on board, I could see that Regent Seven Seas Grandeur delivers a genuinely elevated experience. The luxury here is not limited to marble surfaces or fine dining, although both are present in abundance. It is the sense of space, the high crew-to-guest ratio, the thoughtful design and the seamless atmosphere that define the ship.

I can see why she appeals to discerning travellers who expect an ultra-luxury all-inclusive cruise, spacious ships without crowds and destination-inspired dining. The refined entertainment on board also creates a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. Certainly, a compelling option – if you have the budget.
